Job title: Senior Procurement Engineer – Capability Insertion – Stores and Role Equipment

Salary: £47,683+ (Depending on skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Developing innovative, value for money solutions with the supplier/s products to align to aircraft capability programmes to meet Customers’ current and future requirements
  • Understanding the budget requirements for the Purchase Orders as well as identify opportunities for cost reduction/avoidance through effective negotiation with the suppliers
  • Negotiating Terms and Conditions, Price Agreements and other contractual documents with suppliers, and resolve most areas of conflict
  • Managing supplier relationships and be the primary interface for commercial and contractual issues and maintain strong, effective relationships with suppliers, as well as on-boarding new suppliers. Interface across the Air business and with other teams and functions, e.g. PM, Engineering, Commercial, Finance
  • Demonstrating understanding of and compliance to the Procurement processes (Supplier Management Framework) and ensure the product or service provision meets the governance requirements of the business and our customers
  • Leading Supplier Programme Business Reviews and support Senior Business Reviews
  • Travelling to various Supplier and Customer sites as and when required

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Previous experience of managing strategic Supplier relationships
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, fostering close & trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Problem solving and working collaboratively with others to identify a solution ideally within a Procurement (or similar) environment
  • Terms and conditions skills – an understanding of terminology and language required to develop and negotiate terms and conditions in complex contracting environments
  • Commercial acumen – Knowledge on pricing and costing techniques to be able to negotiate effectively and develop and deliver robust bid proposals
  • Experience of supplier risk and opportunity management
  • Ability to compile data, analyse and propose recommendations Working understanding of tool sets and IT such as ERP systems, Microsoft Office programs particularly in Excel

Desirable:

  • You will have or be working towards MCIPS or have a similar professional qualification, alternatively hold a degree in a business-related subject (e.g. Economics, Business, Finance)

The Capability Insertion Team:

The Capability Insertion Team is responsible for driving value and performance across a diverse range of workstreams, including Avionic and Propulsion systems, Training solutions, and strategic planning.

The team supports the full lifecycle of capabilities, from concept through to in-service optimisation, and leads on category management strategy for both current and future platforms. This role will sit within the team focused on delivering enhancements and efficiencies across stores and role equipment systems.
