About the role

This is a great opportunity for a Senior Process Engineer to join our expanding team. With experience in a similar role you will work on a portfolio of different projects, expanding the capability in the region and supporting the ongoing activities of a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy.

The role will be based from our Chester or London office, but we do operate a hybrid working environment which provides opportunity to work from any of our other UK offices and from home

Core responsibilities

Engineer

  • Responsible for leading design projects or project steps within a larger design programme, proactively raising issues that may affect completion of projects in a timely manner.
  • Draws on technical knowledge and experience to independently develop the most effective solutions for less routine engineering problems
  • Develop process design, technical reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for water & wastewater design projects.
  • Preparation & checking of mass balances, P&IDs, process unit sizing, pumped systems, equipment data sheets and control documents
  • Input to mechanical and civil layouts & arrangements
  • Input to electrical design and specifications
  • Takes on role of Project Manager for smaller or routine projects, leading project meetings and managing client interactions
  • Coordinates the daily activities of a project team including allocating and signing off technical work and providing feedback on performance.
  • Coordinates activities with peers and team members to meet deadlines and achieve set targets in the most effective and efficient way
  • Develops and mentors less experienced team members, including playing an active role in enabling team members to attain chartership
  • Ensures junior team members are adhering to delivery standards and ensures essential procedures are followed based on knowledge of own industry.
  • Provides recommendations on resourcing (people) requirements for specific projects to more senior team members
  • Proactively identifies decrease in workload within own team and collaborates with leadership to secure additional projects to keep teams busy and engaged.
  • Leads the development and submission of proposals for routine, low risk projects and contributes to the development of proposals for moderately complex projects
  • Develops business by maintaining client relationships and ensuring client loyalty and repeat work through excellent customer service and delivery.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Attained Chartered or equivalent
  • Qualification / Degree in relevant discipline
  • Experience of water & wastewater process design and construction project support experience.
  • Good understanding of treatment processes, ancillary equipment, chemical dosing and control systems for water industry projects
  • Track record of delivering an exceptional client experience to contractors and end clients.
  • Flexible with great communication skills and ability to work within a team and independently
  • Willing and able to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed
  • Application of Engineering principles
  • Design Development
  • Experience of managing small projects beneficial
  • Supervising, mentoring or developing less experienced engineers
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Commercial awareness in dealings with clients, proposals and projects.
  • Learning agility, actively learning through experimentation and experience and seeking ways to grow and to be challenged
