Job summary

Hampshire CAMHS (Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust) is expanding & we are seeking to recruit a passionate 8A Practitioner Psychologist to join our well established CAMHs Team in Fareham. You would be joining a friendly, supportive and creative multi-disciplinary team, dedicated to providing a high-quality service.

The team is part of a wider CAMHs service that spans Early Help, Specialist CAMHs and a number of specialist teams such as Eating Disorders, Paediatric Psychiatric Liaison, i2i (Crisis) and a Digital Team. We also have an Innovation Lead and an active Participation offer. This post is positioned in one of the 7 Specialist CAMHs teams.

We follow the Thrive model and use a stepped care approach, formulating and mapping support to level of clinical need. We believe that children and their families benefit from choice and following a formulation driven approach, we endeavour to be able to offer this.

This post can be offered as a development post or part rotational with another speciality.

Main duties of the job

You will be a key team member in the Fareham CAMHs team providing evidence-based assessment, formulation and treatment interventions with young people and families who access our service. You will work alongside a group of experienced and motivated clinicians and contribute to multi-disciplinary team meetings and discussions sharing your expertise whilst supporting and learning from others. You will also have opportunity to use your other competencies where possible such as research, service development competencies and develop specific therapeutic & leadership competencies.

Additionally you will be a key senior member of the clinical team and contribute to the clinical leadership in the team and the wider service.

This post can be offered as a development post to support you developing the specific competencies required to move into an 8B position or part rotational to develop skills in other areas you may be interested in.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in applied psychology [or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or outside the UK], including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, approved by the HPC
  • Professional Registration with HCPC

Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
  • Demonstrate specialist experience gained postqualification of working as an applied psychologist with evidence of having received a substantial amount of clinical supervision (normally in the region of approximately 50 hours).
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse
  • Experience of the application of applied psychology in different cultural contexts and experience of working within a multicultural framework
  • Knowledge of guidance and legislation in relation to the client group and mental health
