Senior Practitioner - Fostering Support Team (South Kent)

Role Responsibility

Kent Fostering has a clear vision for the increased recruitment of foster carers from the local community. It is our ambition to enhance our support offer to Kent Foster Carers and improve our retention, building their skills and knowledge to safeguard our children and achieve positive outcomes and placement stability for them.

It is therefore an exciting and challenging time to be working in the field of Fostering. You will have an opportunity to be joining a team whose goals are to increase placement stability. In this role you will provide high quality supervision, support and training to foster carers, and their families. Senior practitioners will develop a specialism in the team to lead on. You will supervise a social work assistant in the team and step up when the team manager is not available. You will work alongside the fostering assessment teams to recruit foster carers across the county as well as children social work teams to ensure positive matching and planning for children.

You will be supporting foster carers to understand the meaning of their child's behaviour and to consider what might help to both manage the behaviour and sustain the relationship with the foster child.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
