Do you have the drive to join an experienced and highly motivated Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Learning Disability (LD) team to deliver responsive and effective services?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CAMHS LD Practitioner to join the Worcestershire CAMHS Learning Disability Team based in Malvern at 28.5 hours (0.7 WTE) a week.

You will be part of the exciting changes working within the CAMHS multi-disciplinary team inputting into clinical pathways, developments and delivering therapeutic interventions, with specific focus on meeting the mental health needs of Children and Young People who have a learning disability. The successful candidate will receive training and personal development opportunities enabling them to reach their potential and progress towards their career aspirations No two days will be the same, so flexibility, problem solving skills and a desire to make a difference are all vital for this role.

Main duties of the job

You will be a qualified professional with current registration with a relevant professional body. You will hold a caseload of young people with complex mental health needs and will take responsibility for providing assessments and therapeutic treatment programmes for these CYP. You will care co-ordinate a number of young people on your caseload. You will carry out risk assessments appropriate for children and young people with a learning disability and monitor and evaluate interventions using outcome measures.

You will have a proven ability to liaise with and work in collaboration with other relevant agencies according to the needs of the young person. You will promote and maintain good working relationships and effective communication through liaison with service users, colleagues and other professionals.

You will operate in any appropriate settings including CAMHS bases, schools, families homes, residential homes, etc. Occasional working within highly emotional environments with families and staff groups will require a high degree of self-awareness and effective communication skills at all levels.

You will work flexible hours to ensure the service can operate effectively to meet individual needs.

This post requires the post holder to be able to undertake all mandatory training including Safety Intervention (subject to Occupational Health Clearance).

As part of the national transformation of CAMHS, some infrequent on call weekend working is required.
