Salary up to £55,633 per annum

Basic Salary: £42,917 - £49,133 (+ £6000 Market Supplement*)

Fixed Term Contract (12 months)

37 Hours per Week

Are you an experienced Social Worker/Senior Practitioner looking for a new challenge? Do you want to be part of an innovative service?

The Prevention and Support Service (PASS) provides integrated support to children, young people and their families. The key objective of the service is to offer practical advice, support and direct case work to families to prevent issues escalating and requiring statutory intervention.

PASS comprises a range of professionals including:

  • Senior Practitioners/Social workers
  • family support workers
  • parental outreach workers
  • youth offer
  • community support worker
  • programme manager

PASS is supported by a range of services that have strategic oversight. It is based on a 'team around the family' approach, with designated lead professionals responsible for co-ordination of case work.

The Senior Practitioner will focus on supporting and preventing families from entering statutory social care services. Working in the Prevention and Support Service (PASS) with a varied caseload of children and families, you will offer and provide consultation, support and intervention. Actively comply with and promote legislation, statutory guidance and local policies and procedures. To Provide supervision to less experience or unqualified workers.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Practitioner committed to support Children, young people, and families within Thurrock. The Senior Practitioner is required to ideally have at least 2 years relevant experience, preferably working in Children Services. They will offer and provide consultation, support, specialist advice. Actively comply with and promote legislation, statutory guidance and local policies and procedures. To Provide supervision to less experience or unqualified workers and Deputise for the Team Manager.

Key experience and skills required

  • Be a Social Worker/Senior Practitioner with extensive experience of direct work with children and families who are in need of support and intervention.
  • Have excellent and adaptable skills that will engage with families who are in need of support.
  • Be a dedicated and enthusiastic professional who is committed to improving outcomes for children with a solid understanding and background in children's services.
  • Have particular experience and knowledge of how to work with families affected by parental separation, domestic abuse, mental ill health, and substance misuse.
  • Have the ability to understand and maintain a focus on the child's experience in families through accurate assessment and be able to take appropriate safeguarding action.
  • Have experience and /or knowledge of working with criminal and sexual exploitation would be an advantage with a willingness to undertake appropriate contextual safeguarding training.

Qualifications are essential to the role:

A Social Work degree is required

Completion of ASYE

2 years post qualifying experience

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required
