Person specification

Knowledge & Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Registered Nurse Part 1, 2 or relevant section of the register
  • Teaching course
  • Honours degree (Level 3/ FHEQ Level 6) in health-related subject

Desirable criteria

  • Management training course/ leadership course

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Minimum 18 months experience in a practice development role/ clinical practice facilitator/ senior staff nurse (Band 6)

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria

  • Understands importance of audit; able to apply audit processes
  • Willing to provide support to other clinical areas within the division
  • Demonstrates understanding of principles and practice of Clinical Governance, e.g. Risk Management

Communication

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrates awareness of the importance of working as part of a multi disciplinary team
  • Communicates effectively verbally, in writing and in electronic formats
  • Able to use IT to disseminate information e.g. e-mail, Power Point, and Excel
  • Able to support staff to achieve computer literacy

Personal and People Development

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrates evidence of professional development in line with KSF, maintains updated Portfolio
  • Experience working as preceptor/ facilitator
  • Reflective in Practice
  • Prioritises own workload
  • Able to work on/under own initiative
  • Demonstrates commitment to act as preceptor/facilitator
  • Experience teaching others and responding to learning needs
  • Able to plan and deliver teaching sessions/programmes
  • Able to co-ordinate / facilitate a group of staff

  • Articulates reasons for desire to work in this clinical areas
  • Committed to providing safe, effective and timely patient-centred care in accordance with NMC Code of Conduct and Trust Core standards
  • Demonstrates awareness of contemporary issues in nursing and health care

  • Candiate has completed all required training and education (both via e-learning and face to face) on infection prevention and control.
