Here at Leicester, we support many routes into social work and you can play a key role in developing this. With a wide range of training for social workers and alternatively qualified staff at every stage of their career. We prioritise giving the time and encouragement to maximise what teams can learn. It's part of what helps our workforce to move onwards in their career. It's also partly due to our determination to - as far as possible - grow our own. Why do we do this? Because it works - it creates people that know our systems and city.
We know what we do is effective. We want stability, but we don't want complacency. We are always looking for new ways to improve and to innovate. Listening to our staff and implementing their ideas is one of the best ways we can do this. We want our staff to benefit from all that we offer. It's important to maintain their confidence in the practice the deliver and the outcomes they reach. We know they do better work when they have time to reflect on how good their work is. All of this means that people tend to stay with us longer than many other authorities. It's not because it's too cosy, or comfortable - it's because we do things well. For our residents, council taxpayers and employees. And by keeping people here longer, it's done even better.
As a senior practice educator, you can play a key role in the development of our workforce and next generation of Social Worker in both childrens and adults. You can support the continued development of all our teams by providing learning and development opportunities. Putting your social care experience into practice not only by sharing your knowledge but by putting adults, children and young people at the heart of your work. Being understanding and ensuring day-to-day, and year-to-year, there is always someone to talk to give professional support and advice, or simply to be a friendly listener.

This is a great opportunity for someone to support Social Work Education and workforce development. This is a dual role so you'll support and manage social work students, support qualified social workers to become practice educators and support the Learning and Development of the wider workforce. One of the best things about this role is seeing people develop and grow, which is very rewarding. Ideal, if you enjoy the mentoring and development aspect of social work, and we encourage those looking for a fresh challenge to apply.
