Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Identify the training and development needs of staff in accordance with local and national policies.
Support staff in the provision of regular local and relevant teaching and training sessions
Assist in the provision of training programmes for staff to expand clinical skills
Review and develop the annual educational, training and development business plans.
Develop and implement training programmes for practitioners to expand their clinical skills in accordance with the Trust's standards
Assist with facilitation and teaching of Trust Preceptorship Programme
When required, assist in the selection of staff for attendance on courses and other development opportunities
Work with Learning Environment Lead and links from HEI's to ensure that clinical environments are conducive to supporting education and training of all staff and students. Ensure educational opportunities supports learning outcomes identified within learning agreements for students
Plan, provide, implement and deliver monthly departmental audit sessions to ensure all staff maintain mandatory, refresher and additional skills to deliver optimum patient safety and care

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- 1st level HCPC/NMC registration
- Educated to degree level
- Specialist professional knowledge of mentorship, education and development practice to Masters level or equivalent
- Knowledge and experience of teaching techniques and learners needs
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of local, regional and national policies pertaining to practice experience and education
- Knowledge of a variety of teaching methods
- Knowledge of recruitment, selection and disciplinary procedures
- Knowledge of educational standards and practice
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant post registration theatre experience
- Experience of designing, delivering and evaluating training sessions / programmes
- Experience of mentoring/ supervising/ assessing students in practice
- Experience of managing a team or caseload
Skills
Essential criteria
- Understanding of the principles of teaching and learning and their application within the practice setting
- Understanding and knowledge of curriculum design and development
- Able to present articulately to large groups of people
