Senior Policy Fellow (Health & Life Sciences)

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

About us:

Health and Life Sciences are a key policy priority of the new UK government, with a focus on economic growth and the development of the ten year NHS plan, to be launched in Spring 2025. King's Health Partners (KHP) is co-creating a new strategy to 2030, reimagining how we pioneer better health for all. We are collaborating with The Policy Institute at King's College London to strengthen our focus on policy analysis, engagement and influence at a pivotal moment for KHP and the NHS.

The Policy Institute is an exciting, fast-moving environment for a motivated and quick-learning applicant looking to pursue a career in policy research. We expect applicants to draw on many disciplines and research methods, making use of the skills, expertise and resources of not only the institute, but the university and its wider network too. Our research is complemented by extensive communications, impact and engagement activities.

King's Health Partners brings together research, education, and clinical practice across three NHS Foundation Trusts - Guy's and St Thomas', King's College Hospital and South London and Maudsley - and a world-leading university, King's College London.

About the Role:

The successful applicant will work to advance policy and strategy in these core areas, ensuring that KHP is responsive to current NHS policy challenges. Activities will include delivering both responsive and proactive policy analysis and research, producing accessible policy engagement materials such as professionally produced briefs and slide decks, organising stakeholder engagement events such as Policy Labs, drawing up briefing notes and liaising across multiple partners including Guy's & St Thomas', King's College Hospital and South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trusts and King's College London, working across the health faculties and beyond.

We are seeking a Senior Policy Fellow who will work with KHP and The Policy Institute to focus on core policy areas including:

  • How King's Health Partners can help provide the evidence and support the three shifts proposed in the NHS long term plan (hospital to community, digital approaches and treatment to prevention)
  • How can university and NHS partnerships strengthen the life sciences and support economic growth, including accelerating discoveries into clinical practice
  • New workforce / care-force models
  • Tackling health inequalities

The role is an opportunity to strengthen links between KHP and The Policy Institute at King's, and the applicant will have the opportunity to work in The Policy Institute to advance the strategic mission of KHP.

This role is open to applications from King's Health Partners partner organisations and NHS secondments will be welcomed.

This is a fixed term - you will be offered a fixed term contract for one year from start date.

This is a full-time (35 hour per week) post, but flexible working options can be explored.

King's operates a hybrid working policy.
