Senior Platform Engineer

We support our clients in many ways, and you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of different internal and client projects. This is a client-facing leadership role where you'll drive platform engineering excellence across our consultancy engagements while mentoring the next generation of platform engineers.

As a senior member of our team, you'll operate with autonomy to plan, architect, and execute complex client engagements from conception to delivery. You'll also be instrumental in our pre-sales activities, helping to shape technical solutions and win new business through your expertise and communication skills.

Location: We are open to this role being hybrid as long as you are located near one of our offices in London, Leeds or Manchester. Please note that we are not able to offer visa sponsorship at this time.

Requirements

  • Platform Engineering Leadership: extensive experience designing and implementing production infrastructure at scale
  • Cloud Expertise: Deep hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure services, including advanced networking, security, and governance
  • Infrastructure as Code: Advanced proficiency with tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates
  • Production Systems: Proven track record of writing and delivering production code and supporting mission-critical infrastructure
  • Client Engagement: Experience working directly with clients in a consulting or advisory capacity
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Mentorship: Demonstrated experience in mentoring and developing junior engineers

Highly Desirable

  • Container Orchestration: Extensive experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container-native architectures
  • Automation Tools: Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
  • DevSecOps: Deep understanding of security best practices and compliance frameworks in cloud environments
  • Multi-cloud: Experience working across both AWS and Azure ecosystems
  • Pre-sales: Previous involvement in technical sales, solution architecture, or client engagement activities

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and independently execute platform engineering engagements for a variety of our clients
  • Participate in pre-sales activities, including technical discovery, solution design, and client presentations
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for complex platform engineering initiatives
  • Present technical concepts and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Drive client relationships through expert consultation and thought leadership
  • Architect and implement production-grade infrastructure solutions primarily in AWS and Azure
  • Lead the design and delivery of scalable, secure, and sustainable platform solutions
  • Establish best practices for infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud architecture
  • Tackle complex technical challenges across diverse technology stacks and client environments
  • Contribute to our platform engineering strategy and evolving ways of working
  • Mentor junior platform engineers, providing technical guidance and career development support
  • Contribute to the growth and development of our platform engineering capability
  • Support knowledge sharing and technical excellence across the wider Codurance team
