Planner / Senior Planner - Infrastructure - Solihull

Location - Solihull, West Midlands

Purpose of the Role:

We have an opening for a Planner or Senior Planner (depending on experience) based in the West Midlands to work within our pre-construction team to build and develop programmes to support the bidding process.

This is a great potential opportunity for a site-based Senior Engineer/Sub-Agent/Agent to move into an office-based planning role or for a more experienced Planner who is looking to progress.

You will be aligned to our Solihull office, but flexible / hybrid working is available for this position. Full training will also be provided.

What will you be doing:

  • Contribute to creating a safe working environment.
  • Producing Cl.31 Programmes from scratch for both Tender and ECI Contracts
  • May be required to also update and maintain Cl32 Programmes, ensuring realistic schedules that reflect risks and opportunities.
  • Review and develop construction sequences, considering project-wide constraints and overall duration.
  • Facilitate construction readiness planning.
  • Arrange and lead client and supply chain collaborative planning sessions.
  • Prepare Time Location charts using Tilos and cost-load schedules when required.
  • Generate Earned Value Analysis from cost-loaded schedules as needed.
  • Update and analyse schedules, including the impact of Compensation events, and liaise with subcontractors on programme submissions.

About you:

We are looking for passion and a commitment for delivering excellence. Experience and knowledge of major civils / highways projects and public realm work either in a planning role or an on-site operational position is preferred.

As a Senior Planner, you'll need experience of working in the contracting environment with the ability to build programmes from scratch in an independent manner but working within a team and report using P6. As a planner we expect the candidate to be a team player and self-sufficient when required.

Technical / Professional Qualifications:

  • Relevant business experience or transferable skills from other areas.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based planning software (Primavera P6 mandatory, ideally MSP and Asta PowerProject).
  • Level 3 NVQ or Certificate Level qualification, with a preference for a Degree.
  • Willingness to pursue relevant professional qualifications and expand knowledge.
  • Ideally experienced in civil engineering projects, construction methodologies, and working with a main contractor.
