Person specification

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Maths & English, GCSE grade C or Key Skills level 2
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health or 5 years Phlebotomy experience in an acute setting.

Desirable criteria

  • Care Certificate
  • Train the Trainer certificates

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Phlebotomy experience in an acute health care setting
  • Capable to work unsupervised and have experience in leading a large team
  • Experience of training venepuncture to new/unskilled staff

Desirable criteria

  • Link Worker/Key train the trainer; Moving and Handling, ANTT
  • Near patient INR testing

Skills

Essential criteria

  • Ability to prioritise own tasks and organise duties within a team.
  • Able to resolve problems, complaints and issues of Patients and Team members.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with patients, staff and Team members
  • Experience in teaching electronic patient record systems (HIVE). Excellent knowledge in the use of Microsoft word and excel

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in generating staff roters
  • Stock management, auditing and ordering.
  • Experience in liaising with all levels of service users.
