Main duties of the job

We have a vacancy for a Senior Pharmacy Assistantwithin the pharmacy department to specialise in procurement and homecare.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated person to fulfil this supporting role.

You will also be required to have experience dispensing in either a hospital or community pharmacy setting.

This post will include working within the procurement team providing day to day support to the Lead Pharmacy Technician. You will also be able to work within main dispensary, ward stock distribution area and goods receipt alongside other members of the team when required

The successful candidate should have good computer skills; excellent communication skills; be able to work as part of a team and under their own initiative; work in an organised, timely and safe manner and have a willingness to learn and need to have a qualification NVQ 2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent) recognised by the GPhC

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Main duties and Responsibilities

1. Produce orders for routine and non-routine medicines, release and send through ordering system. Ensure printed copies signed off by appropriate Pharmacist each morning and afternoon in order to meet deadlines set by individual suppliers.

2. To use IT systems to procure pharmaceutical stock in line with regional & local contract agreements

3. To identify, analyse and resolve problems with contract/non-contract prices and drug shortages in liaison with suppliers, with the support of the Lead Technician.

4. To follow departmental procedures to claim back reimbursement for off-contract purchasing

5. To work closely and supervise with the pharmacy stores team to facilitate for an efficient ordering/receipt/invoicing service.

6. To assist in the receipt and supply of pharmaceuticals to ensure the smooth running of stores area.

7. Investigate and resolve of discrepancies in stock, deliveries and supplies to wards and departments, escalating to Lead Technicians where appropriate.
