Job overview

Working within the Dispensary and Stores & Distribution teams on the Charing Cross Hospital site, the successful candidate will be a valued member of the ICHT Pharmacy Team. Rotating between the two sub-departments, the enthusiastic and self-motivated individual will gain the knowledge and skills to work competently and confidently in both sections.

To be considered for the position, you will need experience working in a hospital, pharmacy or another customer orientated role and hold a NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent recognised qualification (or be willing to work towards this).

Main duties of the job

Senior Pharmacy Assistants have a patient-centred approach, aim to deliver high standards of hospital pharmacy services, have a good understanding of the importance of medicines in patient care and have an awareness of the roles of multi-disciplinary team members.
Senior Pharmacy Assistants are a key member of the wider Pharmacy team in providing essential services and effective stock management.
The role is rotational, working within Dispensary and Stores/Distribution as per rota and/or discretion of the Chief Pharmacy Technician - Dispensary Services.

Education/ qualifications

Essential criteria

  • GCSE in Maths and English (grade A-C)

Desirable criteria

  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent e.g. Boots, Buttercups, NPA) Note: NVQ2 must be achieved within 12 months of commencement of course.

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Able to work with computers
  • Experience working in a hospital or customer orientated environment

Desirable criteria

  • Experience using CMM system
  • Experience with Automated Dispensing Systems (Robot)
  • Experience working in a community or hospital pharmacy, or dispensing GP practice

Skills/knowledge/ abilities

Essential criteria

  • Able to work under pressure
  • Able to work both alone and within a team
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable criteria

  • A good understanding of all Microsoft Office programs
