The successful post holder will work with professional services, academics, researchers and post-graduate research (PGR) students across the faculty.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to join the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral and Craniofacial Sciences as Senior PGR Officer within the Faculty Research Support Team (RST).

The role is responsible for providing high quality programme administration and student support for postgraduate research (PGR) provisions within the faculty across the PGR lifecycle. Working closely with the Faculty Associate Dean for Doctoral Studies, the King's Doctoral College, Student Records, Admissions and Education Support Services to support PGR students and supervisors during recruitment, induction, progression and assessment, while promoting student welfare, and supporting innovations to improve the student experience.

A key member of the RST, the post holder will work closely with colleagues to ensure the efficient delivery of operational and programme related priorities.

This role is offered with the opportunity to work as part of KCL's hybrid working model where you can work between your home and the office throughout the week.

This is a full-time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Educated to degree level or significant relevant experience.
  2. Experience of programme administration and an understanding of the student lifecycle.
  3. Highly numerate with experience of financial management, including preparing and monitoring budgets and identifying risks.
  4. Customer service oriented with excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills, and experience of building an effective network across a complex organisation working with internal and external stakeholders
  5. Methodical and detail oriented with excellent task management skills and flexible in approach to work, while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  6. Proactive with the ability to work under pressure in a busy environment with competing and shifting priorities and deadlines both independently using initiative to make informed decisions, and within a team.
  7. Excellent IT skills, including Office Windows, and experience of using complex databases and management information systems
  8. Solutions and quality focused, with a commitment to good practice, personal accountability, and continuous improvement
  9. A commitment to a culture of equality, diversity, and inclusion along with an understanding of confidentiality and an ability to deal with sensitive information

Desirable criteria

  1. Detailed understanding of research-intensive Higher Education institutions, the regulatory, policy and procedural context, and best practice along with the challenges and opportunities faced by the sector.
  2. Experience of developing, implementing, and improving procedure
  3. Committee servicing.
