About the role

The Performance and Intelligence Team provides high quality data and intelligence from a diverse range of data sets to execute effective data analysis to inform, influence and shape policy making, strategy development and budget planning for the Council.

Our development plans include providing more proactive business intelligence, by being able to report on demand patterns, service utilisation trends and customer profiling, to identify ways of supporting our residents better and more efficiently. We are also exploring the implementation of modern self-service visualisation and analytics tools such as Power BI, across the Council's services.

We need people to join us who can help. We are looking to appoint to two Senior Performance and Information Officer roles.

What will you be doing?

The role would serve to deliver effective and proactive performance and intelligence management to a range of council services, ensuring that statutory and routine reporting obligations are met to a consistently high standard.

To support the collection, processing and provision of information in respect of council services' performance and analyse and interpret this information for strategic planning purposes.

The role works closely with service managers, report developers, business analysts, IT and the wider intelligence service to effectively collect, organise, cleanse and interpret data to find meaningful and actionable insights to assist with operational and strategic decision making.

About you

In all our roles, we are looking for colleagues who see the world through a data lens, are proactive, self-managing, curious and have a self-reliant approach to problem solving. Good communication and strong client facing skills are also a prerequisite.

In this role specifically, we are looking for someone who has some experience of collecting, analysing and presenting data to varying stakeholders and who is looking to develop a career in performance and business analysis.

The successful candidate will be someone who:

  • Has experience and skills in data analysis.
  • Has excellent practical understanding of the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel and Power BI development skills are desirable.
  • Has excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to produce and present a range of documents to a range of audiences.
  • Has excellent attention to detail.
  • Can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Has experience of working within a local authority setting or having experience of performance monitoring.
  • Has good organisational skills and can manage their own workload.

The role is primarily home based working, however there is an expectation for employees to attend council offices when required.
