An exciting opportunity has arisen within Islington Council's Pension Team for an experienced Senior Pension Officer, who will be involved in all aspects of the day to day administration of the Local Government Pension Scheme. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and performance driven. The ability to prioritise work and meet critical deadlines with a high level of consistency and details are essential.

Main duties of the job:

  • To be responsible for processing and checking a range of pension casework, including but not restricted to benefit estimates, retirements and deaths.
  • Maintain records of pensionable service and contributions and check transfer values to and from other pension providers.
  • Ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Pensions Regulator, General Code of Practice.
  • Providing calculations and information to members and employers based on a detailed knowledge of regulations and analysis of individual circumstances.
  • Maintaining an up to date knowledge of the LGPS Regulations and other related legislation for the Council and its employees.
  • To support effective liaison with external and internal audit, including the efficient filing and retention of documentation, maintaining appropriate audit trails for subsequent retrieval as and when required.
  • To assist with the processing or checking of complex or urgent cases, or cases that have been escalated, within agreed quality and performance targets.

Working for our organisation:

Based within the council's Resources directorate, the Pension Team is responsible for the administration of the Local Government Pension Scheme for Council employees and employees of other organisations that have chosen to participate in the Scheme.

Opportunities and training exist within the Pension Team to be involved in projects to shape the work of the team and develop and improve your skills/knowledge in Pensions administration.
