Our Finance Teams: Our Finance team has a large part to play in the success of our business. We are based across a few locations, but operate as one team, and work together to create a positive, productive and highly efficient finance department within News UK.
Role Objectives
- Accurate and timely end to end processing of 10 various payrolls in collaboration with various departments within News UK and other Group Companies, while adhering to company policy and controls, legislation and best practice
- 2nd line support in resolving payroll queries raised by other members of the team, employees and various departments within News UK, Wireless and other Group Companies.
- Produce periodic and adhoc payroll reports
- Manually calculate gross to net in year and end of year adjustments, including statutory absence pay, PAYE, National Insurance, Student Loans and court orders
- Maintain the debtors list, resolve overpayments and implement repayment plans.
- Assist with the resolution of issues arising on the payroll GL reconciliations, proactive confirmation of expected clearing of manual adjustments.
- Update cash forecast for each payroll net pay and taxes for the Treasury team
Key Skills
- Working towards CIPP Foundation degree or equivalent
- Good understanding of employment law and tax regulations and the application to payroll procedures
- SAP ECC 6 system payroll data entry and reporting
- To manage priorities while working to sensitive payroll deadlines and collaborate at all levels across the business
- Fast and accurate data entry, with excellent attention to detail
- Good Excel skills (Pivot tables, v-look up)
- Understanding of Payroll Accounting practises and procedures

We offer a flexible working arrangement where employees are expected to be in the office a minimum of three days per week. For the remaining two days, there is the option to work remotely if desired.
