We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Payment Specialist to join our Finance Operations & Payments team here at Domestic and General. This role will provide senior operational ownership of UK billing and payments, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant execution of billing, payments and commission processes.
Operating within Global Billing & Payments, the role is accountable for day-to-day operational delivery, reconciliations, issue resolution, reporting and audit readiness and play a critical role in maintaining operational resilience within a regulated environment. This role operates within globally defined payment standards, controls and framework.
In addition to the above it will act as the day-to-day deputy to the Head of Billing & Payments, providing hands on leadership, operational oversight and support for the safe implementation of change, while working closely with Finance, Technology, Product and Global Payments teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day billing and payment operational activities to ensure accurate, timely and compliant processing across all payment-related tasks.
- Prepare and deliver daily, weekly and monthly billing and payment reporting, supporting Finance Operations, month-end close and management review.
- Perform and oversee daily and monthly reconciliations, including direct debit, card and commission reconciliations, ensuring discrepancies are investigated and resolved.
- Manage payment related churn and dunning processes, supporting the reduction of payment failures through effective operational execution.
- Complete month end debtor reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation in line with Finance requirements.
- Monitor and manage exception queues, payment failures and operational issues, escalating risks and incidents where appropriate
- Operate defined payment controls within billing and payment processes, ensuring required checks are completed and evidence is maintained in line with documented procedures
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date UK billing and payment process documentation, runbooks and task lists to reduce key person dependency.
- Support audit and assurance activities by preparing documentation, responding to queries and tracking actions to completion.
- Act as a key operational contact for UK Billing & Payments, working closely with Finance, Technology, Customer Operations and Product teams.
- Support the implementation and stabilization of approved payment changes and enhancements, ensuring smooth transition into BAU.
- Provide operational cover, guidance and hands-on support to the UK Billing & Payments team, acting as deputy to the Head of UK Billing & Payments when required.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and improvement opportunities, raising recommendations to global or regional leads for prioritization
Skills and experience required:
- Strong attention to detail

- Ability to manage BAU operational tasks across multiple processes
- Previous experience within similar role within a payments background
- Experience within finance, billing or payment operations as well as supporting audit or compliance activities
- Understanding of reconciliations and payment processing
