A little more about your role...

The WSP Pavement Engineering team is seeking a Senior Pavement Engineer to be part of this established and experienced team working on exciting large-scale projects. Due to recent successes the team is growing and offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate seeking new and exciting opportunities.

You will form part of an existing team to deliver pavement design and maintenance projects for a number of clients both in the UK and overseas.

You will assist the engineering team to develop and deliver projects through various stages of design from feasibility / option studies to detailed design and onto construction. You will be working with a group of engineers to help deliver pavement design and maintenance schemes throughout the entire project lifecycle with support of the discipline lead.

What will you do on a day to day basis?

  • Deliver pavement projects, including investigation reports, design and site supervision.
  • Perform road inspections and report treatment recommendations.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge in pavement design, maintenance and construction. projects.
  • Demonstrate competency with developing pavement designs and preparing contract documentation in accordance with the DMRB/MCHW.
  • Supervise junior staff and provide technical support.
  • Develop designs using AutoCAD/Civils 3D.
  • Lead work packages with scope to move up to managing smaller schemes.
  • Be confident with client liaison to deliver projects.
  • Produce technical reports as required.
  • Demonstrate good commercial acumen in the delivery of projects.
  • Support with preparing fee estimates and scope documents
  • Demonstrate a holistic understanding of civil engineering.
  • Ensure that delivery is achieved in accordance with the company's management systems including health and safety, project and risk management.
  • Work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Support with developing and enhancing client relationships.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate...

  • Experience working within a Pavement Engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of pavement engineering demonstrated by experience of design and investigation.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of road and airfield pavement engineering projects.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of UK pavement design methodologies and contract documentation, including MCHW.
  • Ability to understand the scope and limits of responsibility between various engineering disciplines and project support groups.
  • Knowledge of materials behaviour and failure mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of Asset Management principals and the ability to understand / improve them.
  • Knowledge of roads operation, maintenance and renewal practices.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Incorporated or Chartered with a relevant professional engineering institution (e.g. ICE, CIHT or similar).
  • National Highways Accredited Pavement Engineer (preferable).
