The Role
The senior co-ordinator position within the Advanced Parenting Team at North Somerset Council offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Advanced Parenting offer. This is a fixed term position for 12 months.
The temporary role involves coordination of groups and practitioners including, supervision and quality assurance responsibilities. The Senior role will be fundamental in supporting the development the parenting teams commitments. As they expand and develop the Parenting offer across North Somerset.
Working with the team Lead You will be responsible for overseeing projects bringing creativity and innovation to the role. Key responsibilities include Supporting the team lead with the roll out delivery and development of our existing Parenting offer, Oversee and support the development of new projects ensuring growth within the team, Link with our multi-agency partners to make sure we are connected to our early help partners within the wider team, work alongside the parenting coordinator to support the day to day running and delivery of groups.

We are looking for an organised and passionate applicant who understands the importance of supporting parents at times when life can feel its most challenging. Therefore, an understanding of child development, trauma informed practice and strengths-based ways of working. Experience of delivering evidence-based parenting programmes is essential.

Key Responsibilities for this role include:
- To work in Partnership with parents, carers and their families, providing advice and support to families with a range of needs as to the most effective programmes for their individual circumstances.
- To train in and deliver evidence-based parenting groups.
- To work closely with the team lead and other professional agencies and providers to identify need, avoid duplication and meet gaps in service. This could include working with partners to deliver programmes, training or giving advice to our Early help colleagues.
- Support the team lead with developing the quality assurance of groups and analysing feedback to streamline and upskill the workforce in the delivery of Advanced parenting groups, such as delivering training, support in group and advice.
This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.
About You
We are looking for an individual who possesses the following skills and experience:
Essential Criteria:
- Be qualified at Level four or above.
- Have experience with working with children, young people, and families with complex needs.
- Have strong organisational and planning skills.
- Be confident in the delivery of 1-1 and group intervention.
- Have excellent time management skills.
- Have a flexible work approach.
- Have good interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships.
- Work well within a team and on your own initiative.
- Be curious in your approach.
- Work in a way which is considerate to anti discriminatory practise.
- You will feel confident to offer mentoring and support and step in to make decisions.
- You will be able to take the Lead in supporting family support workers when needed.
- Be willing to drive new projects forward and be willing to support the team to embed in practice.
