Products

Ranging in format and market position within several key health + beauty categories including; personal bath, shower and

bodycare, haircare, male grooming, skincare, fine fragrance and baby + maternity. A company acquisition in 2016 also extended the companies capabilities into home fragrance formats; candles, reed diffusers and room fragrances. Most recently the Coronavirus pandemic has meant we have significantly changed gear into the Sanitants market.

Role Description

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to join the Packaging Team in a rapidly growing business to help facilitate the constant new product development for our existing and new customers, as well as ensuring a high quality of product across all SKU's by completing and analysing extensive testing pre-launch and providing continuous support throughout the manufacturing process.

The fast-paced environment of the Health & Beauty industry means that this role will develop constantly, with new challenges arising every day within a business, which is organically growing.

Role Objective

  • Lead the New Production Development (NPD) Packaging team ensuring on time product launches across the business
    1. Including line management of members of the team.
    2. Risk Analysis and Mitigation
      • Packaging
      • Artwork
      • Production
      • Specifications
      • CPA Management
  • Lead packaging aspects of Sustainability for the business
    1. Work with global suppliers to assess recycled plastic sources
    2. Manage and keep on top of Sustainable Legislation including The Plastics Tax and Extended Producer Responsibility
    3. Present updates to Senior Management team when required
  • Drive cost engineering projects ensuring no compromises to packaging quality or functionality.
  • Assist Buying team with sourcing and encourage suppliers to present new / innovative packaging solutions, processes and developments.
  • Assist Buying and Quality teams with Supplier Audits and Quality issues to find route cause and add in preventive measures.
  • Provide training sessions to packaging and wider teams within the business where required.
  • Support commercial team with new customer tenders and customer meetings / presentations.
  • Complete reports relating to packaging, packaging waste and pre-production.
  • Influence and implement positive process change across all areas of the Packaging Team, and wider business.

Candidate Description

  • Exceptional organisational ability
  • Must be able to communicate across all levels of the business, from factory floor to Senior Directors & externally with Suppliers and Freight companies.
  • Pivotal team player + has a collaborative approach
  • Excellent numerical skills : must be able to understand and advise on product costings.
  • Has commercial acumen and an understanding of business issues
  • Ability to multi-task and work on multi-projects - skilled prioritiser
  • Deadline driven and motivated : self-starter : a 'can do' attitude
  • Successful within a fast paced environment : responds well to pressure and change
  • Professional, adaptable and flexible

Qualifications

  • Able to demonstrate a high level of intellectual ability, likely through good academics of Degree calibre although other experience or test results may also demonstrate this. Able to demonstrate a high level of numeracy
  • Experience in a similar, fast paced manufacturing business.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office systems including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Full Driving Licence
