Recently, we carried out major upgrades around Oracle Databases, Weblogic Servers, Oracle Retail Suite, RPAS suite, Deployment Pipelines and crafted myriad operational reports in Oracle Retail for Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance and our Technology Colleagues.

Commercial Tech Core team resides at the heart of Commercial Technology ensuring ASOS deliver the best-in-class experience both to customers and to the end-consumers. Technology drives these business objectives and ensures the effectiveness and efficacy for ASOS to deliver this experience. Our integration technology team manage the data flows between all of the ASOS supply chain services both primary and dependent services.

We are looking for a Senior Oracle Retail Database Administrator to join this team and play a critical role in elaborating the business and technical requirements and facilitate the changes and upgrades required in support for the various projects towards Oracle Database and related components we have in flight and on horizon across our Commercial Tech estate.

As a Senior Oracle Retail Database Administrator primarily within Commercial Tech Core team within Merchandise Management Platform, you'll be joining a distributed team of technology specialists with extensive technical and functional knowledge who strive to be best in class in their segment. You'll work with a variety of technology professionals, such as Platform Leads, Project Managers, Software Developers, QA's, and 3rd party software vendors.

Job Description

What you'll be doing:

  • Manage and assist with the installation, upgrades, patching, administration and configuration of Oracle Retail including Weblogic Application Servers, Oracle Databases, RMAN backups, Oracle Data Guard and Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control.
  • Design and maintain Monitoring & Alerting for the infrastructure and systems in conjunction with Architectural recommendations within Merchandise Management.
  • Monitor and report the compute and storage costs. Devise means to manage and control the compute and storage costs via a variety of methods such as Spin-up-spin-down, data sub-setting and archival policies.
  • Create roadmap for patching and licensing of the systems within Merchandise Management to keep them relevant and compliant.
  • Perform a variety of periodic health checks of database estate and necessary maintenance to ensure the optimal state of systems.
  • Work with SRE team and Central Platforms on resiliency, service reliability and capacity planning for the systems within Merchandise Management. Carry out the necessary planned resiliency tests and keep the latest resiliency plan and related matrices up to date.
  • Develop, prioritise and maintain a backlog of user stories ongoing for implementation.
  • Review feedback on user stories delivered, demonstrating product deliverables, and sharing your team's success stories with the rest of the business.
  • Own the area's requirements, by establishing and maintaining a strong relationship with stakeholders and continually enhancing your expertise of the area.
  • Delivering customer value quickly, iterating and learning - being comfortable at pushing back and challenging the status quo.

Qualifications

We'd like to meet someone with...

  • In depth knowledge and experience in Oracle Database Administration including Oracle Dataguard, AWRs and RMANs.
  • Hands-on experience on all aspects of Database and Weblogic Administration Lifecycle.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting anomalies and root cause analysis related to Oracle DB, Linux, Java, Cloud VMs, data replication.
  • Understanding of upgrade paths and being able to spear-head version upgrades of Oracle Retail Applications, Oracle Database, Weblogic, Java (and its over-arching components such as operating systems and Virtual Machines).
  • Deep understanding of Cloud based architecture for Databases and its components to ensure resiliency and recoverability.
  • Desirable: Experience in working in FMCG/Retail sector
  • Desirable: Familiarity of Oracle Retail ERP and related aspects of Application related Database Administration.
