Role overview

We are looking for a Senior Ophthalmic Technician to join ourbrand-newsite inBradford due to open in September 2024. This will be 40 hours over 5 days per week including cover on weekends on a rota basis.

What will the role involve?

Senior Ophthalmic Technicians play an integral role in the delivery of clinical services by performing detailed clinical tests, supporting the clinical assessment of each patient and ensuring that all patients understand their treatment.The role will lead the Clinic team, overseeing the work of the Ophthalmic Assistants, providing advice, support and training as required, supporting their growth and development by signing off the competency framework as they progress through training.

The role will also support the effective running of theatre as and when required, under the guidance of the Lead Theatre Practitioner.

Senior Ophthalmic Technicians work in small team with Consultant Ophthalmologists, Optometrists and Clinic Assistants. You'll be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient functioning of diagnostic services including ophthalmic assessments of the structure and function of the eye, using a variety of clinical equipment. You'll maintain high professional standards of ophthalmic imaging and investigation services to patients by performing, verifying and recording results of clinical testing with absolute integrity.

Combining a friendly and accessible personal manner with advanced clinical testing skills, our Senior Ophthalmic Technicians pride themselves in delivering a great patient experience and on their ability to work within small teams to maintain and enhance processes to maximise quality and efficiency.

What skills and experience do I need for the role?

Previous experience within a healthcare business, ideally in an ophthalmology setting is required and a background of biological or healthcare science would be an advantage and it goes without saying that a desire to learn is a must! It is expected that the company's growth plans will provide ongoing career development opportunities.

It is essential that you have a strong understanding of diagnostic services, including ophthalmic assessments and that you have previous experience of delivering high quality technical clinical procedures in investigation of patients.

You'll be able to undertake simple fault remedy, cleaning and maintenance of imaging equipment or any apparatus within the clinic.

Whilst you'll be capable of working under your own initiative, you'll also have some people management experience and will be a good team player - happy to jump in and support others when required.

You'll be a competent user of computer systems and programmes and will have an excellent grasp of the English language both verbally and in written format
