Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria

  • Registered health care professional (NMC or HCPC registration) Diploma / Degree
  • Extensive Operating Theatre experience - approx 5 years as a guide.
  • Experience in anaesthetics and airway management
  • Experience in managing junior staff including appraisal, supervision and performance
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical area at specialist level of care
  • Knowledge of Podiatric Surgery / Orthopaedic procedures or willingness to learn.
  • Post Graduation Courses & Qualifications within specialist area

Desirable criteria

  • Experience as Senior Theatre Practitioner / Nurse
  • Previous experience within the NHS desirable e.g. Theatre / Outpatients clinics.
  • Intermediate Life Support Trained
  • Phlebotomy/IV cannulation skills desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience in post op dressings and wound care desirable.
  • Teaching Experience

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria

  • Ability to manage time effectively, priorities and work under pressure
  • Be able to work within a theatre surgical setting for prolonged durations
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills both with colleagues and service users
  • IT Skills i.e for use of an EPR system, performance monitoring information and writing clinical notes.
  • Able to communicate sensitive and detailed information written and verbally
  • Be able to collect, collate and report information, maintaining accurate patient records/documentation
  • Ability to undertake manual handling of people and equipment in line with Trust policy.
  • Planning & Organisational skills

Desirable criteria

  • Audit skills
  • Experience of using SystemOne or similar EPR systems for clinical records
