Hours- Full time

Salary- up to £38,000

Location- Fareham

Uplands Hospital, in Fareham, are seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist with strong communication skills and familiarity as working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

The role is full time and the successful candidate is required to hold a professional registration. The post holder is responsible for the provision of a high-quality Occupational Therapy (OT) service, ensuring that the service delivered meets Caretech and professional standards and develops in line with Government, Clinical, Professional, and local guidelines.

Uplands Hospital is an established 24 bedded unit providing mental health rehabilitation for adult service users with complex mental health needs that impact their recovery to live in the community. The hospital is located in Fareham, Hampshire, providing specialist assessment, treatment and support to stabilise service users symptoms and help them regain the skills and confidence to live successfully in the community. A holistic MDT approach facilitates assessment, treatment and review of both mental and physical wellbeing.

Requirements:

Degree level or higher in occupational therapy HCPC Registration Specialist post graduate training in a range of subjects relevant to mental health/acute mental illness/challenging behaviours Experience of using standardised and functional assessments and activity analysis in a mental health setting. Experience of supporting and supervising junior staff Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team Able to manage a complex caseload of clients throughout the service Specialist skills in mental health related risk assessment Knowledge of current issues in OT practice and mental health service provision e.g. Government policy, drivers, and current best practice Knowledge and experience of Mental Health, Mental Capacity Act and Safeguarding

Responsibilities:

The post holder is responsible for the provision of a high-quality Occupational Therapy (OT) service, ensuring that the service delivered meets Caretech and professional standards and develops in line with Government, Clinical, Professional, and local guidelines. Delivering occupational focused assessment, formulations, and interventions for a caseload of patients with complex functional needs whilst in the rehabilitation environment. To be responsible for supporting, developing, and evaluating an evidence-based therapeutic group programme. To be a key resource in facilitating the patients journey through mental health rehabilitation pathways within the hospital setting and supporting discharge to the community. This will involve supporting patients to learn/develop skills of independent living as a step to discharge into the community.

This is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities. The post holder may be required to undertake other duties following appropriate discussion with their line manager.
