Senior Occupational therapist
Band 6
We are looking for a keen OT to join our Acute Therapy Team. The team consists of Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Physiotherapy staff. There are rotations through medicine, elderly care, surgery and orthopaedics providing a wide variety of experience within the acute wards.
Supervision and support is provided by the Band 7 Occupational therapist.

Main duties of the job
- To manage a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions
- To provide leadership for junior staff through supervision, competencies and appraisal
- To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Therapy services within a designated area/team, holding responsibility for defined projects
- To contribute to the maintenance and development of the trust Therapy service
- To regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placements
- To participate in the rotations as assigned by your manager

Education and qualification
Essential criteria
- BSc or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- HCPC Registered as OT
Desirable criteria
- Relevant postgraduate training
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of a range of OT models and demonstrate being up to date with trends and developments in OT stroke rehab
- Awareness of clinical guidelines and NSF's - NOF's, Elderly Care and Falls
Experience
Essential criteria
- Postgraduate, incorporating experience in a variety of core areas including Elder, Surgery, Stroke and Medicine
- Experience working as an OT with adults in NHS
Desirable criteria
- Previous OT Band 6 experience with adults
- Previous Community Band 6 OT experience with adults
