1. To undertake specialist occupational therapy assessments to identify needs, leading to formulation and implementation of individual treatment programmes and evaluation.

2. Occupational therapists are expected to work with the framework and contribute to the Trust Care Programme Approach.

3. The occupational therapist will be responsible for risk assessment and management both within the CPA process but more specifically when considering an individuals level of functioning and ability to live independently, under supervision of a specialist occupational therapist.

4. The occupational therapist interprets assessments, evaluating the impact of illness, disability or environmental factors on the individual's ability to carry out his or her desired activities and occupations.

5. Occupational therapist is responsible for evaluation, modifying and monitoring the treatment interventions they provide under supervision of the advanced occupational therapist.

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria

  • HCPC Professional Registration as OT
  • Additional clinical training relevant to specialism.

Desirable criteria

  • Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists
  • Additional training in specialist standardised assessments.

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Working with people with a range of mental health or learning disability challenges.
  • Experience of working with a range of statutory and nonstatutory services.
  • Working with carers or families.
  • Experience of supervising others.

Desirable criteria

  • Service development or evaluation projects.

Skills and abilities

Essential criteria

  • Able to demonstrate commitment to high quality care and service provision
  • Able to record information clearly and accurately
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer/IT skills
  • Excellent problem solving and reasoning skills.

Desirable criteria

  • Personal time management
  • Able to prioritise

Knowledge and understanding

Essential criteria

  • Specialist knowledge of OT assessment, intervention and practice models relevant to the service user group (MoHO)
  • Knowledge of HCPC professional standards
  • Knowledge of developments in occupational therapy practice relevant to setting.

  • Ability to travel with or without patients throughout Cambridgeshire on a daily basis.
