Communication and Interpersonal Skills

Essential criteria

  • Knowledge of IRR17 and IR(ME)R17 regulations during radiopharmaceutical preparation, administration, and imaging workflows.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safe handling, storage, transport, and disposal of radioactive materials in accordance with local rules and RPA guidance.
  • Knowledge of maintaining aseptic technique in radiopharmacy areas, following GMP principles, environmental monitoring requirements, and contamination control procedures.
  • Knowledge of QC procedures in line with local SoPs
  • Using Essence of Care principles- privacy, dignity, communication, and patient experience-when preparing patients for Nuclear Medicine procedures
  • Participating in audit, dose optimisation reviews, quality improvement activities, and multidisciplinary discussions to enhance service quality.

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • HNC/Degree in Medical Physics/Physiological Measurement or other relevant subject or a DCR/BSc Radiography
  • Accredited nuclear medicine technologist training such as IPEM or equivalent including nuclear medicine practical competencies.
  • Eligibility for admittance to the Register of Clinical Technologists/HCPC registration e.g. degree or equivalent plus specialist training.

Desirable criteria

  • Post graduate qualification in radionuclide imaging

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential criteria

  • Significant Nuclear Medicine experience
  • IV cannulation and venepuncture skills

Desirable criteria

  • Radiopharmacy post qualification experience
  • Teaching/tutoring/ mentoring in the workplace
  • Cardiac stress room experience
