Job Description
The Senior Airline Network Development Manager collaborates with the Head of Aviation - Business Development to optimize Heathrow's network and slot utilization. This role involves engaging with airline networks and scheduling, influencing industry policy, and managing relationships. The candidate must have strong communication skills, commercial experience, regulatory knowledge, and teamwork ability.
Responsibilities include negotiating the use of runways, terminals, and aircraft, facilitating airline engagement, and collaborating with teams in Climate Change & Strategy, Reputation, Risk & Engagement, Solutions, Legal, Operations, Cross-Customer, and the Aviation Team.
Responsibilities
- Developing policy frameworks that promotes growth and optimises airport capacity, focusing on runway and airspace utilisation, and occupancy. This should be part of a well-defined passenger growth strategy centered around airlines.
- Evaluating and challenging strategic resources, presenting insightful findings that clearly outline a path to value.
- Assisting the Head of Aviation - Business Development, Cargo, and Partnerships teams in executing Heathrow's overall business strategy.
- Collaborating with the Planning and Engagement Manager as well as the Reputation, Risk & Engagement teams to formulate the Airline Industry Policy communication plan.
- Creating a unified airline network and slots activation plan, clearly articulating deliverables.
- Leading the Slot Strategy workstream to ensure clarity and alignment in Heathrow's position on slot-related policies.
- Supporting the Head of Aviation - Business Development in managing relationships with third parties such as ACL, ACI, IATA, and DfT.
- Providing centralised liaison support for airlines during crisis events or incidents.
- Working closely with Strategy and Cargo teams within Aviation to support the development of Network and Slot Strategy.
Qualifications
- Good understanding of Airport/Heathrow's strategy and business objectives.
- Strong relationship management and communication skills.
- Robust commercial experience
- In depth and current knowledge of airport pricing models, airline operating models, revenue management, fleet planning and strategic priorities.
- Understanding of airline business models - their drivers and challenges
- Experience and understanding of airline network planning and/or Worldwide Airport Slot Guidelines (WASG) a plus.
- Highly articulate with excellent written and presentation skills.
- Tenacious and self-motivated, comfortable operating autonomously and balancing priorities.
- Effective in cross-organisational team working.
- Understanding of the regulatory model a plus but not critical.

Working Location
Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of Heathrow. Working arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You'll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
