We are seeking a Senior Modelling Lead to plat a pivotal role in shaping the way SunLife understands and acts upon customer and campaign performance. You'll bring advanced technical expertise, commercial acumen and a strategic vision to ensure we fully harness the value of our data. By applying advanced modelling, predictive analytics and deep customer insight, you'll challenge existing processes, influence stakeholders and drive data-led decision making that optimises marketing investment and accelerates business growth.
Here's what you'll do for us (aka accountabilities)
1. Shape and lead the strategic application of the Marketing Mix Model, ensuring data inputs are robust, assumptions are valid and outputs become a trusted and usable asset for marketing planning and investment decisions.
2. Translate complex modelling outputs into clear, actionable strategies, delivering to stakeholders and influencing media efficiency and long-term ROI.
3. Perform advanced analysis of trading, campaign and customer data, uncovering emerging opportunities and risks and providing insight and informs both tactical and strategic decisions.
4. Drive the development of predictive behavioural models, deepening SunLife's understanding of customer journeys, lifetime value and channel interactions to support growth strategies.
5. Partner with leaders across Marketing and Distribution teams to ensure investment strategies, contact plans and campaign decisions have a basis of robust evidence.
6. Act as a visible advocate for data led decision making by challenging legacy approaches and embedding a culture where insight drives performance and decisions.
7. Proactively identify new analytical opportunities, using a deep understanding of the business to set your own agenda, anticipating data and modelling requirements and drive initiatives without waiting instruction.

How you'll be successful (aka measures)
1. MMM outputs are consistently adopted and used by marketing teams and senior stakeholders. Inputs and outputs are delivered accurately and on time. Increased efficiency of Performance KPIs as a result of the model outputs.
2. Data and model outputs are used by stakeholders when planning activity, uplifts in Performance KPIs can be directly attributed to modelling insights
3. Trading insights are regularly delivered at Trading and Commercial meetings and findings are used in decision making.
4. Predictive models are provided to perform accurately, growth strategies reference modelling insight, Performance, retention and long term value KPIs improve over time.
5. Investment decisions are supported by data-led evidence, Performance KPIs improve over time.
6. Legacy processes are replaced with evidence-led approaches. Modelling outputs regularly discussed at trading and Commercial committee meetings.
7. Modelling and data insight outputs that are used in investment decisions, trading meetings and commercial committee meetings can be evidenced as originating proactively.
Who you'll be working with (aka stakeholders)
You'll work closely with the Performance Analysis Manager and Senior Performance Manager as well as stakeholders from other teams across SunLife, such as:
• Digital team - Marketing & Operations/Delivery
• Telephony
• Distribution
• IT & Change
What we want you to bring to the table (aka skills and experience)
• Analytical capability with understanding of customer data and databases
• Understanding of Econometrics or a Marketing Mix Model
• The desire to develop your skills in predictive modelling and big data techniques
• Experience SQL and Azure Machine Learning an advantage
• Knowledge of Stats techniques including segmentation, cluster analysis, regression and modelling an advantage
• A hunger for learning about new software and statistical techniques
• Relevant qualifications, ideally a strong numeric degree
• Ability to communicate complex analysis to commercial and non-technical commercial teams
• Flexible in approach and always happy to help
• Be confident in challenging ideas
• A passion and an inquisitiveness to understand the business and make a real change.
