  • Must be registered with a professional body

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Recognised Professional Qualification (eg RMN/RSCN/RNLD, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Clinical Psychology)
  • Relevant post graduate qualification or training in area relevant to service delivery

Desirable criteria

  • Qualifications in Psychological Therapies to Diploma or Masters level e.g. CBT / SFT/ IPT
  • Mentorship course ENB998 or equivalent
  • Leadership Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Substantial experience of working effectively with people with mental health difficulties, including experience of delivering specialist skills in at least one therapeutic modality
  • Extensive experience of case management, including experience of assessing and managing risk: including safeguarding
  • Experience of developing and providing evidenced based assessments, formulations, and care plans
  • Experience of liaison and working with a range of other relevant agencies and professionals
  • Experience of staff management and evidence of managerial skills and knowledge
  • Experience of mentoring and supervision of others
  • Evidence of successful partnership working with other professional groups
  • Understanding of the principles of Clinical Governance and a willingness to follow Trust Policy and Procedures

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health
  • Experience of providing interventions for children and young people with mental health problems and their families
  • Experience of working with wider stakeholder groups
  • Evidence of providing clinical supervision and training
  • Evidence of project management experience

Knowledge, Skills and Ability

Essential criteria

  • Specialist knowledge of child mental health and relevant legislation in relation to young people and mental health
  • Highly developed knowledge of evidence-based practice across a range of therapeutic interventions with this client group
  • Ability to perform complex diagnostic assessments as an autonomous practitioner across a range of mental health conditions
  • Ability to identify and manage risk in individuals presenting with mental health needs
  • Ability to manage and organise own time and diary, and work flexibly and creatively in a clinical context
  • Ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive, or contentious information often within a hostile, antagonistic or highly emotive atmosphere
  • Evidence of leadership ability, able to influence, involve and develop individuals and teams
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Able to multitask and mentally adapt to different, unpredictable situations
  • Able to foster partnerships and working relationships with other professional networks
  • The ability to follow policy and make proposals for change
  • The ability to work independently with the support of clinical and management supervision
  • Able to demonstrate and understanding, acceptance of and commitment to the principles underlying equal opportunities, treating every person with respect
  • The ability to maintain clinical records both written and electronic and be IT literate

  • IT competent
  • Knowledge and understanding of the research process
  • Experience in audit
