We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Media Co-ordinator to join the Tech & Ops team on a FTC until the end of March 2026.

As an ambitious broadcaster UKTV is pushing the boundaries of the traditional outsourced media management and bringing in-house the responsibility of looking after our own content. Starting small, we are looking for an experienced Senior Media Co-ordinator, ideally with some cloud experience, to help us ingest, check, and manage our inventory of content. The Senior Media Co-ordinator, along with the media team, will ensure our contents' secure and timely onward delivery to our third-party service providers, such as playout, access services or VOD partners.

What we would like you to bring to the role....key experience, knowledge, skills & personal qualities

  • Previous experience in a similar role either within a broadcaster or media supplier (media delivery, post production, playout etc.)
  • Understanding of Cloud technologies is desirable, although training can be given to the right candidate.
  • Ideally have working knowledge or experience of Mediagenix What's On, at least detailed experience of an asset/media management platform.
  • Good knowledge of Excel
  • Demonstrable knowledge of video and audio file formats and codecs
  • Demonstrable understanding of Access Service files, including subtitles and audio description
  • Be able to check metadata in xml format, for high level troubleshooting.
  • Ability to interpret automated QC reports to identify problems, and to provide a fix or be able to articulate either the problem succinctly or recommend a fix to supplier.
  • To be able to Quality Check content and classify it according to the ITU-R 5-Point Quality Grading Scale.
  • Experience in delivering and packaging content out to third parties, and understand the various distribution methods such as file acceleration, FTP and Cloud technologies.

What you will get to work on....key outputs and responsibilities of the role

  • To co-ordinate UKTV's media management workflow from inbound supply to through to delivery to third parties.
  • To keep track of content and always know where it is or at what stage of production.
  • To operate UKTV's content platform, including What's On, Freeway, or any other system/software required.
  • To ensure incoming media passes through the ingest workflow, and any rejects are managed with the supplier or internal support team.
  • To Quality Check to broadcast standard a selection of content and validate any auto QC failures.
  • To either remedy or reject any incoming media if it does not meet specification.
  • To maintain and manage archive, including housekeeping, purging or fixing where required, and dealing with enquires from the business about the status of media assets.
  • To ensure all content is viewable within portal.
  • To ensure the delivery mechanism to third parties (such as creative, playout or VOD platforms) are working, and those parties can access the content as per permissions.
  • To be the first point of contact for internal teams and external partners, and escalate any issues where required.
  • To be able to advise internal stakeholders of any ongoing issues and to provide expert advise where required.
  • To develop, document and constantly review standard operating procedures for the team, including training guides, disaster recovery procedures and contact lists.
  • To ensure that all material is processed accurately and delivered by the deadline required.
  • To provide reports of platform activity, failure rates and reliability as prescribed by the business.
  • To maintain the content security standards required by the business and report any breaches immediately to line manager or Infosec manager.
  • Such other related duties as the management may from time to time reasonably require.
