Our Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) Data Centre team is well established and partners with some of the largest and leading Data Centre providers and users across the globe, ranging from Europe, Africa, Asia and the UK. We have offices and teams in The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, the UK and South Africa.

What you do as a Senior Data Centre Mechanical Engineer

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you must prove yourself to some of the most demanding customers in the world and work pro-actively with our colleagues across the globe. Beyond the standard features of a building, our MCF projects require specific and advanced knowledge and skills. What our clients have in common, is the need for a proactive Mechanical Engineer. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in designing mechanical systems tailored specifically for Data Centre projects. However, we welcome applications from senior professionals who exhibit strong skills and aptitude for Data Centre design, as comprehensive training will be offered. The scope of project responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of tasks, spanning from initial stages such as defining clients' design briefs to conducting inspections and audits, drafting specifications, overseeing design processes, and managing mechanical building services. Demonstrating flexibility, dynamism, and the capacity to contribute to the ongoing development of our expanding team are vital qualities to ensure the continued success and growth of our M&E group.

Your main responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Providing expertise on a broad range of engineering projects with a detailed knowledge the RIBA plan of work.
  • Co-ordinate / mentor junior team members.
  • Assist in the identification of new and relevant opportunities and development towards winning new work.
  • Innovative, able to develop and implement concepts.
  • Proven industry experience with the coordination of mechanical and electrical systems in the built environment.
  • Share knowledge and expertise.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team where your work will be cross borders, native and home based. In addition to participating in projects, you naturally also contribute to the optimization of our internal business processes and to safeguarding and sharing knowledge within your field. You will become part of our global Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) team, who provide a multidisciplinary package of consultancy services for our Data Centre clients. We provide strategic, tactical, and operational advice to our clients, including colocation datacentres, internet service providers, and telecom companies. Our team consists of colleagues with all kinds of different expertise. For example, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, construction, civil, structure, building, architecture, fire safety, control engineering, and security technology. What you bring:

You are an entrepreneurial, result oriented, proactive individual with a positive flexible and problem-solving attitude. Besides that, you have:

  • Ability to perform best in a multidisciplinary team often with international colleagues.
  • Good command of the English languag
  • BEng (Hons) or MEng in Mechanical/Building Services Engineering
  • Achieved or capable of achieving Chartered Status (correct academic status or years served)
  • Comprehensive post education experience
  • Knowledge and practical experience of:
  • Microsoft Excel based calculations. (essential)
  • IES Virtual Environment (or equivalent software) (desirable)
  • NBS (Engineering Services) (desirable)
  • Application of key M&E EU legislation (essential)
  • Stabicad (desirable)
  • Good project management skills.
  • Flexible work ethic.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Confident.

You will be based in Newcastle or Birmingham. As our clients are based in various locations nationally and internationally, flexibility towards traveling is expected.
