About The Role

Bespak is looking for an onsite, permanent, Senior Multi-Skilled Engineer (Mechanical Bias) on the Holmes Chapel site, CW4 8BE. The salary for this role is £53,217.22 per annum Other benefits you will receive are 25 days leave plus bank holidays, discretionary annual bonus, generous 10% pension contribution, onsite free parking, and medical / dental / health / life assurance.

Working Pattern - Days 37.5 Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 5.00pm Friday 8:30am to 3:45pm

As a Senior Multi-Skilled Engineer (Mechanical Bias), you will be responsible for planning and coordinating the workload of the Facilities Mechanical team. You will manage the delivery of Mechanical PPMs and respond to reactive breakdowns, ensuring all issues are resolved efficiently and effectively.

In addition, you will optimise the performance of site services assets and related equipment by providing technical support as required, ensuring all activities are completed in accordance with planned schedules, documentation standards, safety regulations, and GMP compliance.

Bespak in Holmes Chapel is an Investors in People Silver Award-winning pharmaceutical CDMO with over 350 employees, currently going through a period of significant site expansion. We are investing heavily to increase our capacity for developing and manufacturing sustainable pMDIs (asthma inhalers) with greener propellants, meeting the evolving standards of the industry, while providing comprehensive development, manufacturing, filling, and finishing solutions for a range of medical devices, including SMIs, DPIs, nasal sprays, and medical check valves.

As a Senior Multi-Skilled Engineer (Mechanical Bias), your duties will include:

• Plan and coordinate the Mechanical team's workload, combining 60% hands-on work with 40% planning and administration.
• You will manage PPMs, reactive maintenance, and compliance through CMMS/CAFM systems, producing performance reports and liaising with stakeholders to ensure effective task delivery.
• Responsibilities include supervising contractors, supporting shutdowns and on-call duties, ensuring all work meets safety, quality, and GMP standards, driving improvements in reliability and performance, and assisting with the installation, commissioning, and qualification of new equipment.

Senior Mechanical Engineer, beneficial key skills and experience:

• Recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship or HNC (or equivalent qualification).
• Experience in steam plant maintenance and good steam system awareness.
• Proficient in using site systems and computerised maintenance tools.
• Minimum 5 years' post-apprenticeship experience in an engineering role.
• Experience in pharmaceutical or manufacturing environments (desirable but not essential).
• Proven background in a supervisory or lead engineering position.
• Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multi-skilled environment and operate independently.
