We are hiring for a talented, experienced and motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer. Due to recent innovation funding we have the opportunity to expand our R&D team. The role will include working on new product introductions, ground up re-designs as well as supporting the existing product. As a startup we can move quickly so candidates must be adaptable to change, balancing the need for diligence and pace, to manage designs through the full lifecycle of concept, detailed design, testing, product introduction and end of life disposal.
The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product, electronics, software, production and service engineers. Experience working at startups and a broad range of engineering experience is desirable.

Requirements
Essential
- Ability to understand complex technical requirements and drive development of both new products and productionisation projects
- Sheet metal design for medium production volumes including design for panel benders, stamped components, assembly and jigging for sheet metal assemblies
- DFM methodologies; FEA analysis
- Good knowledge of CAD and PDM
- Hands on experience with prototyping, 3D printers, CNCs, assembly and disassembly of prototypes
- A positive, proactive team player who is keen to make a difference and enjoys working in a goal-driven environment
- Experience of writing test methodologies, setting up experimental functional tests, analysing data output and producing clear test reports
- Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline (Bachelors 2:1 or higher)
- Keen interest in the future of the energy sector and Net Zero
Preferable
- 8+ years experience within a similar mechanical engineering role
- Inventor FEA and Star CCM for CFD. Experience setting up pressure drop models through complex channels and conjugate heat transfers models
- Strong thermodynamic analytical skills relating to heat transfer and fluid dynamics
- High temperature component design
- Design for white good consumer appliances
- Python for data analysis and interpretation of data
- Experience with mold design preferably in the concrete/refractory industry
- Experience designing components for optimised production line yield and quality
- Experience of electronics development
- Experience working at startups
- Working to UKCA/CE and EN60335 compliance standards; liaising with test houses
