Job Description

AECOM are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Engineer to join our Bristol office, based in the city centre.

Some of the sectors we specialise in from Bristol include; defence, education, residential, commercial, aviation, fit-out projects and industrial developments. This is a great opportunity to play a significant part on future construction projects across the UK, and across worldwide locations.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer job responsibilities will include:

  • Performing specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Gathering and correlating basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Working on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
  • Proposing approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
  • Identifying discrepancies in results.
  • Providing guidance to entry level engineers.
  • Performing work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Independently performing all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
  • Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.

Minimum requirements:

  • Work experience within a similar consultancy or other relevant business, on projects in a variety of sectors
  • Design of mechanical systems including ventilation, heating, cooling, domestic water and drainage
  • Knowledge of the RIBA Plan of Work and working to the corresponding detail defined by BSRIA
  • Achieved or working towards Chartered Engineer status
  • Active involvement in the industry, including attendance at regular CPD seminars and external events e.g. CIBSE
  • Demonstrated use of digital tools for design and calculation, including Revit

Qualifications

  • Relevant degree or professional qualification
  • A clear work history and proof of professional development and learning
  • Awareness of thermal modelling software (preferably IES), for achieving Part L compliance, overheating assessments and thermal load calculations
