In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales and Brackley, England.

The purpose of this role is to manage a design team that will provide design solutions from initial concept through to manufacture.

Key Responsibilities will include:

- Responsible for the design and detail modeling of a variety of suite components in order to meet programme requirements
- Produce designs to meet specified cost/weight targets
- Design Engineers will be expected to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers.
- Participate in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process
- The selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design element
- Ensure the successful integration of each design element within the product as a whole
- Check engineering packages
- Participate in the validation of the product (using such methods as prototyping, test, DFMEA)
- Follow and contribute to the development of the Best Practice guidelines
- From time to time, Design Engineers must be prepared to undertake tasks outside of their normal duties as requested by their immediate supervisors.

Candidate skills & requirements

Qualified to a minimum of degree in a Mechanical / Aerospace /
Structural Engineering field. Alternatively a HNC/HND or an
equivalent qualification in Mechanical / Aerospace / Structural
Engineering apprenticeship, with extensive experience in mechanical
systems design, developing concept and detailing engineering
solutions - Essential
Highly Proficient with experience in CATIA V5 (or other 3D CAD
packages) and Product Life Management (PLM) Systems - Essential
Ability to plan and schedule design activities across multiple design
modules - Essential
The applicant should have an understanding of the effective
application of tolerances and a working knowledge of manufacturing
processes, as well as OEM installation requirements - Essential
