Main duties of the job
Assist the leadership and day to day running of Pharmacy stores, Distribution
Assist in the training of Pharmacy personnel within the designated areas.
To ensure the smooth daily running of the Stores, Distribution areas including organising workload, daily rotas and ad hoc queries.
Provide advice and support for pharmacy staff within the department and hospital staff.
To ensure stock levels are maintained and correct at all times.
To assist with the training of pharmacists, technicians and assistants with regard to stock management and control.
Participate in the late night service, weekend and bank holiday rota's as required.

To supervise staff within the Pharmacy department
To investigate, follow-up and record any discrepancies with stock
Prioritise workload within the department
Participate in the supply of stock medication via the ward top up service. Liaise with relevant ward pharmacists and ward staff to provide an effective and efficient service
To ensure the storage of the products complies with temperature and cleanliness standards and meets health and safety requirements and the requirements of our wholesale dealers license
To manage the receipt and storage of medicines in the robot and ensure all robot ARX problems are resolved in a timely manner or referred to the stores manager
Ensure that any to-follow or out of stock issues are promptly and accurately reported to the procurement manager
To ensure all stock is used in rotation
To ensure that the equipment used in storing and handling pharmaceutical products is in good operational condition and to report on such equipment
To ensure all requirements of the wholesale dealers license are achieved and maintained in accordance with the MHRA requirements
Collate stock, including orders from community clinics and other outside agencies, ready for collection by the pharmacy porter or hospital transport
Ensure that any to follow items are sent as soon as possible and any discrepancies checked
Ensure the availability of sufficient stock and sundries/consumables to the dispensary and ward stock distribution areas
Maintain good customer services at all times
Ensure that the appropriate manual and computer records are amended when stock is transferred and that stock discrepancies are either corrected immediately or reported to a senior member of staff
Carry out daily stock checks against the computer generated monitoring sheets for stock audit. Ensure that any discrepancies are reported
Dispense controlled drug medicines to ward stock
Record all prescriptions received onto the prescription tracking system
To provide an accurate and efficient dispensing service of various types of prescriptions in accordance with departmental standard operating procedures
To maintain patient records using the pharmacy computer systems to ensure information is accurate and up to date and complies with the date protection act
Report any complaint, incidents or near miss situations via the error reporting system and your line manager
Maintain a clean and tidy environment
All pharmacy staff must show confidentiality with regard to any information about patients, confidential information about the trust and commercial information (e.g. drug prices)
All work will be carried out in accordance with the relevant laws, the guidelines of the general pharmaceutical council, trust and departmental procedures and standards of professional practice
Assist with any actions required from drug alerts received from the MHRA
Carry out any duties as may reasonably be requested for the effective running of the pharmaceutical service
To participate in the dispensary rotas, these duties will include dispensing and dealing with prescriptions and all other duties as required.
