We have several exciting on-going projects with clients across both commercial & naval marine domains and are seeking to expand our existing Marine Engineering Design capability.
As a Senior Marine Design Engineer every day at Expleo will be out of the ordinary and will require you to be dynamic and responsive to changes in technology, innovation, and client requirements. You will have the opportunity to get involved in vessel and engineering design. The creation of new & innovative tools & processes, the delivery of engineering consultancy services, and the development of new business opportunities across a wide range of UK maritime programmes.
Your primary place of work will be Derby.
Responsibilities
- Creation of CAD Models and Drawings: Producing detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings to meet required standards.
- Design Deliverables: Ensuring all design deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
- Liaise with colleagues and stakeholders during appropriate design phases to ensure coordination and functionality of design.
- Technical Support: Providing technical support during the construction and installation phases.
- Perform self-verification of work.
- Reporting of technical progress and issues to line management.
- Be aware of and ensure that safety, health and environmental requirements are implemented
- Assist with the maintenance and improvement in quality standards of outputs.
- Change embodiment.
Qualifications
- The candidate is required to hold an NC/HNC or an equivalent qualification / experience in relatable discipline subject.
- Apprenticeship in relevant discipline or relevant industry experience
Essential skills
- Experience of the following key technical knowledge areas:
- Mechanical Design
- Structural Design
- Piping
- Familiarity with shipbuilding/ship repair terminology and practices.
- Be proficient in the use of one or more parametric/spec driven CAD system both in a 3D & 2D environment.

Experience
- The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience (8 years for non-degree qualified) working in the naval maritime domain.
