Lead Manufacturing Engineer

Mission/Purpose of the Job

To lead the Manufacturing Engineering function within the PCA production zone. To ensure new product is introduced to Operations and that it seamlessly meets the needs of the business and the customer regarding quality, on time delivery, safety and cost.

Main Responsibilities

To provide manufacturing engineering skills to the team with an emphasis on promoting Design for Manufacturing techniques for the next generation of products and to ensure a successful transition from design to manufacture. • To be responsible for estimating Product costs and ensuring that deviations to target are highlighted. Ensuring standardized methods are used to determine product cost before launch. To liaise with other departments to gain a full understanding of product requirements and to represent the interests of Manufacturing Engineering. • To ensure procedures are updated and training material produced prior to final role out of the proposed changes. To facilitate handover of the new systems to the operational teams who will use them. • To mentor key individuals in each team with a view to leaving a clear owner for the new process • Enter and maintain the BOM and routings with agreed assembly times on the SAP system. Generate and approve cost simulations to confirm product costs. Ensure routings remain accurate should changes occur. • Prepare SOPs for all new products, publishing and maintaining SOPS as design changes occur. • Be accountable for delivery on KPIs with activities completed to agreed plan and Financial KPIs relating to meeting approved spend (CEPs) on assigned projects. • Benchmark industry standards in printed circuit assembly and ensure the production facility adopts a state of continuous improvements regarding processes and machines. The continuous improvement Manager should also support and in some cases lead these topics. CRWs and CEPs resulting from this are also in scope. • Manage Engineering change through the PCA zone. • Organize prototype builds and pre-production batches of all NPI projects. • Participate in all relevant Project meetings. Represent Manufacturing Engineering interests at all DFMEAs and lead PFMEAs and ensure good engineering practices are adopted in all cases. • Support the entire Operations team to meet their objectives and any other reasonable task that may be asked of you. • Support 8D investigations where necessary. • Support the adoption of new parts, including: coordinating the Sample Approval Process for new parts, assigning and creating the SAP Material Master including all alternatives, agreeing the logistics supply chain and handover to procurement

Required skillset

Bachelors degree in Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering or a related engineering discipline or demonstrable experience • At least 3 years' experience supporting PCA operations and 3 years involvement in an NPI role with design for manufacturing responsibility for electronic products. • Full understanding on PFMEA and DFMEA considerations within an electronics assembly environment: • Printed Circuit Assemblies (Surface Mount and conventional components) • Excellent understanding of Lean Manufacturing Techniques • Excellent team working ability and interpersonal communications skills. • Flexibility to run multiple projects in a small company environment. • Competent in use of Microsoft office • Ability to communicate at all levels within the organization.

An understanding of in circuit testing • Lean Six Sigma belt accredited
