THE ROLE

As the Head of Supplier Management you will be responsible for managing all ULD, trucking and freighter departments including cost and operational performance, any casualing and follow-up actions.

This position will also be accountable for developing and implementing strategic plans to deliver the transformation initiative: Supplier and Customer management. This involves identifying efficiencies via process and supplier landscape reviews (identifying who, if and where we use suppliers).

DUTIES

• Understand departmental supplier requirements, contractual obligations and review associated performance against said requirements. As and when departmental requirements change, assess the suitability of the applicable contract and supplier and act accordingly.
• Lead and deliver on complex commercial negotiations with key suppliers to control and optimise costs, negotiate pricing and manage change within the operation.
• Address and enforce sanctions for poor performance in relation to third party suppliers.
• Ensure continuous improvement in services provided by 3rd party suppliers and service providers through the regular auditing and review of performance data, robust management of contracts and benchmarking other service providers.
• Build and maintain effective working partnerships with external suppliers and service providers.
• Develop a detailed plan to support the delivery of the Transformation initiative. This position will ensure that there are clear plans in place with accountable business owners, timelines for completion, analysis of any cost saving opportunities and the tracking of any financial benefits.
• Develop and own the reports required to manage, control and challenge ULD, trucking, freighter and supplier performance.
• Define and implement performance metrics for the Trucking and ULD teams.
• Deliver monthly packs to support the review of the performance in each area (ULD, trucking, freighters) and hold the managers accountable for providing any commentary to explain the performance.
• Collaborate closely with the finance team to understand and deliver the analysis and challenge. Ensure that the causaling is being prepared correctly and demonstrates the cost drivers, price, volume, product etc.
• Collaborate with the procurement/ Airports team to ensure that the right level of challenge and support is in place to deliver the best results for the business when doing deals with current and new suppliers. Ensure that there is a drive to broaden the perspective of the supplier management to deliver more benefits for the business. This includes regionally as well as cross function and OPCO.
• Lead, coach and manage a team of high performing individuals with an emphasis on continual improvement on processes and performance metrics.
