What you'll do
Vodafone's Digital and IT function is on an ambitious journey to become a software engineering centre of excellence. Our strategy is to reinvent our IT estate, focusing on internally engineered software and embracing modern software engineering technologies and principles such as Cloud, AI, DevSecOps, SRE, and Lean Engineering. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineering Senior Manager to lead our multi-cloud applications team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, cloud technologies, and leading effective and empowered teams. This role involves overseeing the strategy, design, development, testing and deployment of applications across multiple cloud platforms, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance whilst retaining focus on speed to market and cost control.
- You will lead and manage a team of software engineers in the design, development, and deployment of multi-cloud applications.
- You will provide technical and organizational leadership, to establish best practice coding utilising DevSecOps and pipeline driven practices.
- You will drive the evaluation, selection, and implementation of the best cloud solutions for the organization, considering solution requirements and operating cost.
- You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align software engineering efforts with business objectives and priorities.
- Mentor, recruit, and guide staff, ensuring access to ongoing training programs and development opportunities.
- You will develop and maintain scalable architecture to support applications and infrastructure-as-a-service (IAAS) and platform-as-a-service (PAAS) platforms.
- You will ensure the quality of microservices through adequate functional, automation, and performance testing strategies.
- You will be a thought leader and advocate to drive the adoption of modern software engineering practices, including DevSecOps, SRE, and Lean Engineering principles within the team and across D&IT more generally.
Who you are
- You will have proven experience in a software engineering management role, preferably within a large and complex organization.
- You will have strong knowledge of modern software engineering practices and technologies, including Cloud, various coding practices, DevSecOps, SRE, and Lean Engineering principles.
- You will have excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire, challenge and motivate teams.
- You will have strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering high-quality software solutions.
- You will have excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- You will have a passion for technology and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
