The SAP MDG Architect is a critical leadership role demanding a balanced blend of technical expertise and strategic thinking. This role is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of SAP MDG and data migration solutions, including design, development, and implementation, ensuring alignment with organizational data governance principles and objectives.
Deep knowledge of SAP S/4 HANA Data Migration, MDG modules, technical architecture, and data governance best practices is crucial. Additionally, the SAP MDG Architect must possess a strong understanding of data migration strategies and methodologies, specifically in the context of SAP S/4HANA transitions. This includes expertise in data cleansing, transformation, validation, and the technical tools involved in migrating data to SAP S/4HANA. This role requires guiding cross-functional teams, ensuring successful project delivery and high-quality outcomes. Expertise in Customer, Vendor, Material, and Finance master data domains and deeper understanding of SAP S/4 HANA data model is essential for success.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities that we need from you:
Successfully delivered large-scale SAP MDG and data migration projects, including global template deployments, across diverse industries and geographies.
Leadership & Design:
- Lead the design and architecture of SAP S/4 HANA MDG and Data Migration solutions, ensuring alignment with business needs, industry best practices, and technical standards.
- Define data models, workflows, validation rules, and integration points to optimize master data management processes.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams, including SAP MDG consultants, developers, and analysts.
- Establish technical strategies, standards, and best practices for SAP MDG implementations.
Collaboration & Requirements Gathering:
- Collaborate closely with global business stakeholders to understand and analyse requirements related to master data management, data governance, and data quality.
- Translate complex business requirements into clear technical specifications and architectural designs for SAP MDG and data migration solutions.
Implementation & Integration:
- Oversee and govern the configuration and customization of SAP MDG modules to meet specific business requirements, ensuring adherence to architectural principles and design guidelines.
- Define and implement integration strategies between SAP MDG and other SAP/non-SAP systems (including ERP and BI) using appropriate technologies (e.g., IDoc, RFC, BAPI, Web services).
Quality Assurance & Change Management:
- Develop comprehensive testing strategies and oversee quality assurance activities for SAP MDG and data migration implementations.
- Ensure solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements through rigorous testing and validation.
- Facilitate change management processes to ensure smooth adoption of SAP MDG solutions, communicating changes, benefits, and impacts to stakeholders while effectively managing resistance.
Knowledge Transfer & Documentation:
Provide training and knowledge transfer to end-users and IT teams on SAP MDG functionalities, best practices, and maintenance procedures, ensuring user proficiency and effective system maintenance.
• Meticulously document architectural designs, configurations, customizations, and integration specifications for SAP MDG solutions.
• Establish governance processes to ensure compliance with organizational policies and standards.

To be successful in this role you are required to demonstrate the following competencies:
- Proven hands-on experience in SAP Data Migration MDG pre-sales, implementation, and architecture.
- Deep expertise in SAP MDG and data migration modules across all S4 HANA DATA objects, specifically Material, Customer, Vendor, or Financials.
- Strong understanding of data modelling concepts, data governance principles, and best practices.
- Proven proficiency in SAP integration techniques, including IDOC, SOA, RFC, APIs, and DRF.
- Strong functional understanding of master data, integration aspects across manufacturing, procurement, supply chain, finance and sales and asset and project management areas.
- Demonstrated expertise in data migration strategies and methodologies, including data cleansing, transformation, and validation.
- Proficiency in data migration tools and techniques within the SAP landscape like Syniti, SNP, SAP BODS, SAP Information Steward and any hyperscaler tools.
- Expertise in MDG Consolidation and Mass Processing configurations.
- Good understanding of Data Quality Management (DQM) principles and implementation strategies.
- Ability to analyse complex business requirements and propose fit-to-standard solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with both business stakeholders and technical teams.
