Your new role At NewDay
Reporting to the Head of Employee Relations, Operations + Governance you will lead and empower the People Operations team, ensuring they have the skills, competencies and development to deliver an exceptional colleague experience across the business. You will also lead the delivery of the People Team risk and governance requirements in line with the NewDay risk management framework and 3 Lines of Defence model, together with ongoing management of the Senior Manager and Certification Regime (SMCR).

0-12 months you'll deliver
- Leading on the seamless delivery of operational matters across all colleagues, and ensuring that all HR lifecycle processes, and first line support are delivered effectively within agreed SLAs
- Building a philosophy of continuous improvement to drive efficiency and effectiveness, particularly through the Workday People system
- Maintenance of SMCR related policies, practices and framework, including but not limited to co-ordination of Fitness & Propriety certification process, maintenance of the Responsibility Map and Statements of Responsibility, production of Regulatory References, Committee pack production and secretariat duties for SMCR Conduct Rules Forum and Conduct Breach reporting
- Undertaking reviews and analyses into concepts which may impact multiple colleagues Ensuring good governance and audit compliance, identifying risks, and ensuring appropriate and relevant controls are in place across the People team and attesting to these each month.
What you'll bring
We need knowledge, experience + expertise in:
- Previous experience of leading and motivating a small HR Operations team in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid understanding of HR practice and principles across all subject areas.
- Excellent attention to detail with an analytical mind-set
- Confident and professional communicator, with an ability to engage across all levels of the organisation, both informally and through PowerPoint to produce a compelling and engaging narrative.
- Structured and organised approach, and the ability to work autonomously to analyse and articulate key requirements
- Passion for change and desire to identify and implement improvements.
- Experience of developing and implementing procedures, and running operational processes
- Able to prioritise workloads and delegate effectively, whilst giving constructive feedback and coaching.
- Used to handling multiple collaborator relationships with conflicting deadlines, and providing regular communication on current and future priorities
- Pro-active behaviour that demonstrates initiative and positive work ethic to ensure activities are delivered to the required time
- Willing to actively support the team with daily activities as and when required
- An understanding of the way key People processes work and how controls can influence the effective management of risk
And would love you to know or learn:
- Experience in delivering process and systems improvement, particularly using Workday.
- Knowledge of the financial services industry and of the unsecured retail credit industry, related risk management, regulation and practices.
- Some understanding of FCA, SMCR and legal requirements related to consumer finance
- An understanding and/or experience of Operational Risk Management
