Job Description

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Overall responsibility for the Marketing Risk Framework, controls and governance processes for the Marketing business, including engagement with internal and external auditors
  • Represent the marketing business and presenting at a Board level including the Audit Committee
  • Manage and support the personal and professional development of direct reports to achieve business targets
  • Foster cross-commodity collaboration and innovation by initiating relationships beyond the immediate team
  • Manage market risk exposure through defining risk strategy, identifying and measuring risks, and active risk management
  • Determine and challenge internal KRAs for intercompany commodity transfer pricing and Market Risk exposure
  • Provide technical input for the selection and implementation of Marketing's risk systems
  • Define and model price curves within the risk systems
  • Oversee the development of an in-house pricing engine for Market Risk measurements
  • Own VaR methodology, Market Risk Measurement Framework, and tools for effective risk allocation
  • Perform back testing of risk calculations to ensure report integrity
  • Provide Market Risk input for Marketing Risk Committee (MRC) submissions and challenge cross-team feedback for alignment
  • Conduct quantitative assessments on key marketing priorities and transaction structures
  • Develop business cases to support or challenge Marketing team priorities and deal structures
  • Lead by example to embed Marketing behaviors and act as an ambassador for the Marketing BU with senior stakeholders
  • Develop relationships across marketing teams to ensure trust and information sharing regarding new business initiatives

Qualifications

  • Excellent academic credentials in Business, Finance or Mathematics

Experience

  • 7 - 10 years working experience
  • Experience working in banking, trading or commodity marketing environment
  • Experience in leading a risk management team and people management
  • Business process design and development of procedures and policies related to trading and risk management oversight and control
  • Understanding and analysing options transactions
  • Commodities trading risk management experience is mandatory

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proven track record in senior risk management role, ability to influence at C-suite level
  • Experience and gravitas to effectively convey key messages to the Board including Audit Committee
  • Demonstrate expert quantitative and analytical skills
  • Apply expert spreadsheet modelling skills to produce risk reports from data stored in multiple systems
  • Establish a thorough understanding of the setup of risk reporting systems, processes, and policies
  • Understand production processes, technical characteristics, market dynamics, and commodity applications to deliver value
  • Utilize strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate and engage with stakeholders
  • Negotiate and influence effectively to achieve optimal outcomes
