About the TeamThis is an exciting time to join the Rapid Resolution Team which operates as a centre of excellence within the Professional Regulation directorate. The Team act as trusted advisors to the Executive Director and senior leadership team within Professional Regulation thanks to their combined strengths of technical mastery, strategic big picture thinking and ability to lead transformational change. This combination of skills is essential to support the business to emerge from a period of uncertainty and instability and deliver an ambitious programme of change which will improve the experience of everyone involved in the fitness to practise process and ensure the operating model is fit for the future. This is the organisation's top priority.

The Team is responsible for translating the vision set by senior leadership into robust, sustainable changes to the operating model. The Team lead on design and delivery of cross-cutting initiatives which break down departmental siloes and encourage strategic thinking, such as the strategy for the new legal service contracts. The Team operates in a matrix management structure to influence changes to ways of working across teams, mentoring other managers to support and encourage cross-cutting whole process thinking and working alongside them to embed change. The Team's sophisticated operational know-how, ability to translate insights and ideas into robust operational plans and hands on approach ensures they have the credibility necessary to influence effectively and deliver through a network of others.

About the roleThe purpose of this role is to act as a trusted advisor to the Professional Regulation Executive Director and senior leadership team, combining strategic, technical and operational expertise and working at pace to lead design and implementation of innovative changes to the fitness practice operating model which deliver results.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for a candidate with the following skills and experience:

  • Project leadership: experience in identifying areas for improvement, conducting root cause analysis, and leading innovative, cost-effective projects to deliver improvement aligned with the organisation's objectives
  • Delivery planning: demonstrable experience of managing complex delivery plans, handling dependencies, and mitigating risks to meet milestones and deliver results.
  • Autonomy: demonstrable ability to work independently, with minimal direction from senior leadership.
  • Change management: experience of developing strategies to support adoption of the changes required by a project, informed by a blend of change management processes and tools and understanding of the operations.
  • Collaboration and leadership: strong collaboration, matrix management, mentoring, and consensus-building skills.
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion leadership: a track record in leading efforts to tackle inequality and support inclusion and diversity.

The role you are applying for is a flexible role, and whilst you will be posted initially to a team, this may require movement between teams as the flow of work dictates. You will of course understand that this flexible approach enables us to provide the best possible service to our registrants and reach the outcomes to our cases quickly and within a reasonable timeframe. This will not change your terms and conditions and will be discussed with you prior to you taking up the post.

Successful candidates will be appointed to a particular NMC Office, but you may be required to travel to other NMC locations, that are reasonable daily commute from your home office.

Our Pay Policy
It is expected that staff new to the NMC will ordinarily be appointed to the bottom of the relevant pay band. However in exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to offer a salary above the bottom of the relevant pay band but we may request proof of current earnings. Please note that we offer an annual review of salaries and adopt a generous progressive pay approach. Further details of which are available on request.
