Due to the regulated nature of procurement in the public sector, the firm has established a specialist, business critical team, the Public Sector Bid Team (PSBT). Tasked with managing and supporting the firm's public sector bidding activity, the PSBT drives quality and operational improvements on public sector bids and helps the business to win work in a highly competitive marketplace.

We are looking for a highly commercial professional to join our Public Sector Bid Team in this new public sector pricing, contracts & reporting role.
Reporting into the Director of the pricing support function, the remit of this role will be broad and engaging. The role's core focus will be on open book accounting which is the process whereby we report our costs and profit margin to government. You will be the primary contact on these matters for the UK G&PS practice. To be truly effective in this role, you will need to be adept at managing commercial risk, have advanced attention to detail and an ability to manage relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Owning the process whereby we report our costs and profit margin to government.
- Reviewing contracts to identify our financial reporting obligations and proposing processes and solutions to help drive compliance.
- Performing and reviewing profit margin calculations.
- Liaising with senior stakeholders across Deloitte including our CFO and partners.
- Explaining our profit margin calculations to clients.
- Maintaining audit trails for our profit margin calculations and managing our response to related internal and external audits.
- Driving initiatives to improve the way we prepare and capture data.
- Providing strategic commercial advice to bid teams to inform key decision making, including advising on pricing under public sector frameworks.
- Mentoring client-facing staff to help them understand the wider commercial implications of our work.
- Reviewing the work of more junior members of the pricing team.
- Developing collateral to facilitate knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the pricing team.
- Championing our internal bid process and advising on bid related matters.
- Responsibilities and priorities of the role may change over time according to the workload of the PSBT.

Essential
- Excellent numeracy skills and ability to work with large data sets
- Experience of performing public sector commercial contract reviews
- The ability to develop, maintain and review financial models with strong Excel skills
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to influence/advise stakeholders
- Proven track record of identifying and managing business risks.
- Strategic thinker who can work independently and proactively
- Effective project management and organisational skills
- The ability to work in a deadline-focused environment, where accuracy and attention to detail is essential
- Excellent presentation skills, including the ability to deliver online training and to summarize the financial implications of decisions to senior stakeholders
- Ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Adaptable to client needs
- Collaborative and strong team player
- Interest in the commercial aspects of bidding and how to win
- Experience of UK public sector clients
Desirable
- Accountancy qualification, or equivalent
- Experience of reporting profit margin figures to government clients
- Experience of managing others, particularly junior team members
- Previous pricing experience
- Degree in mathematics, business, economics, finance or STEM subject, or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of public sector procurement and the process of bidding under the UK contracts regulations
- Experience of commercial negotiations with third parties
- Ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives
