The Role:
World of Books started life as a seller on marketplaces and while our direct business is growing rapidly, we remain one of the largest sellers on eBay by volume and a significant seller on Amazon. Marketplaces are particularly critical to our U.S. business, and we are looking for a Marketplaces professional who is an expert in marketplace operations, with a keen focus on maximizing sales and maintaining compliance across the platforms that we work with.
As our Sr Mgr, Marketplaces you will own the relationship with key marketplace platforms like Amazon and eBay . You will ensure that our marketplace channels are adhering to marketplace policies and have stable trading. This role involves managing our inventory across multiple marketplaces, troubleshooting issues and working with software development teams to ensure our technical systems support trading performance. You will lead marketplace strategies and manage a team of two.
What You'll Do:
- Manage Marketplaces: Oversee day-to-day operations on Amazon, eBay, and other relevant platforms, ensuring full compliance and optimizing performance.
- Relationship Management: Own relationships with marketplace account managers (Amazon SAS, eBay reps) to find improvement opportunities, troubleshoot issues and stay updated on new programs and initiatives.
- Compliance & Account Health: Monitor and improve account health metrics, including resolving policy violations and ensuring adherence to platform-specific rules and regulations.
- Process Building: Develop and refine processes to ensure efficient and scalable marketplace operations.
- Product Roadmap: Act as product manager for development team to maintain performance of our marketplace connectors (both proprietary and third-party) and deliver ongoing technical improvements when needed, leading agile ceremonies, owning prioritisation and outcome delivery.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Use data analytics to optimize performance and identify opportunities for growth or efficiency.
- Sales: Develop and implement marketplace-specific strategies to drive revenue, leveraging opportunities specific to each marketplace
- Team Management: Manage and mentor a team of two marketplace specialists based in the U.S. and Hungary, ensuring alignment with company goals and performance targets.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience managing large inventories preferably across multiple international marketplaces, including hands-on experience with Amazon Seller Central and eBay Seller Hub.
- Expertise in dealing with policy violations, improving seller account health, and managing relationships with platform account managers.
- Strong technical skills with knowledge of marketplace APIs, reports, and compliance systems.
- Data literacy, including experience with SQL for data analysis and decision-making.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a track record of selling on marketplaces
- Experience managing remote teams and working across different time zones desirable
- Up-to-date with the latest marketplace trends, regulations, and best practices.
- Detail-oriented with experience building and implementing robust processes.
